We treat a lot of people with back discomfort in our Lincoln office, and Dr. Jerrad Swanson, DC, FMT, DN1 has noticed that many cases of back pain start in the sacroiliac (SI) joint. Research has revealed that about twenty-five percent of all back pain begins in the SI joint, and now fresh research ratifies what we see in our clinic: chiropractic is an effective method for treating this problem.
In the study published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, thirty-two women who suffered from sacroiliac joint dysfunction were separated into two groups and asked to engage in one of two treatment therapies. The first group was given a chiropractic adjustment isolated to the sacroiliac joint, and the other group got an adjustment to the sacroiliac joint and the lumbar spine.
Specialists observed greater improvements in both pain and movement immediately following treatment, two days later, and 30 days after for the group who received high-velocity low-amplitude manipulation to both the sacroiliac joint and the lumbar spine. This shows that chiropractic treatment applied to these two areas offers both prompt and lasting results for sacroiliac joint pain sufferers even with only one treatment round.
Therefore, if you are suffering with sacroiliac joint pain, or live with back and leg issues and would like to see if your sacroiliac joint is the cause, a consultation at our Lincoln office may be the first and best step towards feeling better. Give our office a call today at (402) 484-5177.
